Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca – Chefchaouen

We will meet you at the airport or at your hotel in Casablanca to start your 6 Days desert Tour before driving to Chefchaouen. Your first night in Morocco will be spent in Chefchaouen, the ‘Blue City of Morocco’, where you’ll overnight in an authentic Moroccan riad in the heart of the medina.

Day 2: Free day to explore Chefchaouen

You will have a free day to walk around and explore the highlights of the blue city. Explore the alleyways and hidden gems of this stunning imperial city. Overnight at your same riad.

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Fes

After breakfast, we drive to Fes. You will have all afternoon to explore the many highlights of Fes. Once again, you will overnight in a traditional riad and visit the university Karaouine, Blue Gate, Jewish Cartier, and Tennary as well.

Day 4: Fes – Merzouga

Following breakfast, embark on a southward journey to Merzouga and the Sahara Desert via Midelt and Errachidia. Our first stop is Ifrane city, often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Morocco,’ and then to Merzouga through Midelt and the Ziz Valley. Throughout the journey, catch glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas Mountains. Pause at a cedar forest for a chance to see Barbarian Apes. As we drive, observe the changing scenery, revealing hints of the desert as we approach Er Rachidia city. After lunch in Midelt, continue along the spectacular Ziz Valley, with stops for panoramic views. Pass through the Berber villages of Erfoud and Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty. Arrive in Merzouga, greeted with a glass of mint tea before starting a camel trek into the Sahara Desert. Witness a spectacular sunset from Morocco’s highest sand dunes, enjoy dinner, and experience traditional Berber drums. Overnight at our well-equipped desert camp.

Day 5: Sahara Desert – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

If you wake up early, you may experience what may be the best sunrise of your life. As you slowly wend your way back to Merzouga on your camel, you won’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of dunes in the changing light. After breakfast and a hot shower, you’ll leave for Tinghir and Todra Gorges. These are the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. Next, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as ‘monkey toes’. Finally, overnight accommodation will be at a riad or guesthouse in the heart of the gorge.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Ait Ben Haddou KasBah – Marrakech

After breakfast, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, also known as ‘The Way of a Thousand Kasbahs’ towards Kalaat Mgouna, the ‘Rose City’. Here you may purchase rose oil or water to keep your linen smelling good long after your trip is over. Afterward, we continue to Ouarzazate, the ‘Hollywood of Africa’. Lunch is at the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest kasbah in Morocco. After exploring this UNESCO heritage site, our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’ Tichka Pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains. We will take time to stop and enjoy the impressive views and visit an argon oil cooperative. The route provides numerous opportunities to take some of your best photos of the trip. Finally, we arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon where your 6 Days Desert Tour ends.
